The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department operates year-round, bringing the residents of Butler County quality, affordable recreational opportunities. The Parks and Recreation Department regularly submits press releases to all of the local media. Our programs are advertised on the radio and in the print medias. Many of the programs that are offered by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department have minimum and maximum participant requirements, and registration deadlines. If you are interested in attending a program or class, be sure to register early.


The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department has a no-refund policy for all programs and rentals. This also applies to Alameda Waterpark admissions and aquatic programs. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department may be offering additional programs that were not available at the time of printing. Please call the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department for programs that have been added after this website was updated.


By registering or participating in any Butler County Parks and Recreation Department activities you agree to allow publication of any photo or video taken at any program, event or facility. The County of Butler, without obligation to provide compensation to those photographed, may use such photographs. Photos and video taken at activities may be used for publication as the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department and its sponsors deem necessary. If you have an idea for a program, would like us to expand on our current programs, or have any questions or comments, please let us know.

Butler County Parks and Recreation Policies

  1. Alameda Pool and The Kid's Zone Playground areas are tobacco-free areas. No tobacco products may be used within 20 feet of entrances. This also includes the use of E-cigarettes. 

  2. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department has a no-refund policy in effect for all programs and for Alameda Pool.

  3. Most Classes are limited in size. Registration will be on a first come-first serve basis.

  4. Payment is expected at the time of registration. Cash, money orders, or personal checks. Please make checks payable to "County of Butler".

  5. Please check the programs for which you are registered. No confirmation notices will be sent.

  6. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of handicap status in the provision of programs.

  7. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel programs due to insufficient registration. Unless notified, classes will begin as scheduled.

  8. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department welcomes people of all abilities. Please note that a 48-hour notice is requested for any person with a disability who needs special accommodations to participate in a program.

  9. Alameda Pool may be closed for reasons of poor weather or attendance, safety factors, or special events. Please see our pool rules and regulations for a complete listing of policies and guidelines.

Dog Paddle Pool Pawty at Alameda Waterpark           

Sunday, September 11th

1:00pm - 4:30pm

$10.00 per canine

Butler County Parks and Recreation teamed up with Butler County Humane Society to help donate back to our furry friends, 50% of the proceeds will go to Butler County Humane Society. Butler County Humane Society will be judging our longest jump contest and we will also have a best dressed dog contest!

The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department is offering this very special program to all dog lovers. We are opening the pool for a canine only swim!

Lifeguards will be on duty, the play stations will be on, and our four-legged friends can enjoy a leisurely dip in Alameda Waterpark.

Please remember to bring a copy of your pet’s license and a copy of their current vaccination records in order to gain entry to the waterpark.



Dog’s Day Out!

Sunday, September 11

9:00am - 4:00pm

The Butler Dog Training Association will hold the Dog Day Out at Alameda Park. Get active with your dog! Have your dog run through agility rings for owner/dog teams with no experience. For teams with more advanced skills, a rally obedience ring. Micro-chipping will be available by a licensed veterinarian, breed and obedience competition, agility, and Canine Good Citizen/Therapy Dog testing.

The event will also include great homemade food, a large raffle of doggie items, and many vendors. So bring your dog and a lawn chair and stay for the day! For more information, call Nancy Kieffer at 724-285-9910 or



Alameda Septemberfest

Sunday September 25th 



The 19th Annual Septemberfest is back and admission is still FREE! Fees for vendors, car cruisers, anglers, and 5k participants can be found at the Butler County Parks and Recreation Office, if not listed below. Our Award Winning Youth Fishing Derby returns (yes, we have live fish in Alameda Waterpark), along with games, face-painting, children activities, music, prizes, and the Annual Alameda Septemberfest Car Cruise.

We will have food vendors, crafters, and vendors of all types with us during the Septemberfest. 

The Craft and Vendor Show will be from 9:00am until 4:00pm.

If you are interested in reserving a space as a vendor or crafter, cost will be $45.00 for a 12’x12’ Non Electric Space and $55.00 for Electric Space.

Car Cruise

Join our Septemberfest and bring your car for our Car Cruise. Half craft vendor show and half car cruise. This year you can enter your car to be on our Septemberfest t-shirts next year in 2017! Drop in and submit your name, the winner will be drawn at 3:00pm the day of the event on September 25,2016. If you pre-register at $10.00 you will receive a t-shirt during the event. Pre-registration is due by September 9th, 2016. Join us the day of the event at no charge, however you will not receive food voucher or t-shirt. T-shirts will be available by purchase at the registration tent. 


5K Lions Club Toot and Scoot

The Lions Club is teaming up with Butler County Parks and Recreation for their annual 5K walk/run! This year at the Septemberfest participate in this benefit run then enjoy an awards ceremony, raffle prizes, and chili! Proceeds benefit the Butler Lions Club charities that include the Blind Association of Butler/Armstrong County and Butler Meals on Wheels.

Pre-registration is encouraged but not mandatory. The race starts 9:00am sharp on Sunday, September 25, 2016. Pre-registration can be sent by mail, or you may register on the day of the race starting at 7:30am at the Carousel Shelter. Youth Fishing Derby

Fishing starts Sunday 27th from 11:00am to 3:30pm with the Award Winning 19th Annual Alameda Youth Fishing Derby.

We have two age groups for fishing at different times for prizes along with a variety of entertainment throughout the day.

Each age group will fish for 2 hours. Ages 8 and under will fish from 11:00am-1:00pm, and ages 9-15 will fish 1:30pm-3:30pm. Gates for fishing will open 15 minutes early to let fishers in (10:45am).  Advance registration is being accepted at the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department. Advance registration is not necessary, but is appreciated, and you will be able to get to your “spot” faster, and save money on your registration!

Mailed in registration forms must be received at the Butler County Parks and Recreation Office no later than Friday, September 9th.

The cost is $7.00/angler for pre-registration, and $9.00/angler after September 9th. Please bring your own tackle, fishing pole, and bait. We will provide the fish!

Please note: All anglers pre-registered can check in at the Alameda Waterpark.

Those needing to register must check in at the Septemberfest Registration Tent prior to coming over to the Alameda Waterpark area.

Would you like to have a garage sale, but just don’t have the time or energy? Sell your treasures at Alameda Park out of the trunk of your car!

The fee is only $5.00 per space, or $8.00 for two spaces.

Admission for shoppers is FREE!

After the Register early date, up to the date of the event. The price per space will be $7.00 for one space or $10.00 for two.

Trick & Treats at Alameda Park

Saturday, October 22nd

6:00pm at the Masonic Shelter

Halloween at Alameda Park will involve lit displays in where your child will run location to location to discover a treat at each stop! Savenger candy hunt,

fire show from Sirkus Dayz, a bon fire and plenty of treats! Each child will walk away with a bag of treats and some candy.

There is a pre-registration fee of only $7.00 per child through October 7th. After that, registration is $9.00!

Save by registering early!

Dress up in your Halloween costume and join all the ghouls at the Masonic Shelter at 6:00pm for a good time! Pre-registration is preferred.



Flashlight Scavenger Candy Cane Hunt

Saturday, November 19th 

6:00pm at the Carousel Shelter

Join us for what is sure to be a fun evening. We are having our Annual Light Up Night at Alameda Park, and we want you to join us! We are also going to be looking for all the candy canes that have been rumored to be hidden around the Carousel Shelter!

Bring your flashlight as clues will be read aloud to help you know the location of the treats. Each treat location will be lighted with unique displays that rhyme with the clue read aloud! 

Pre-registration is required. The cost is $7.00 per child for pre-registration up through November 4. Registration after November 4 will be $9.00. Save when you register early! The fun starts at 6:00pm at the Carousel Shelter.



Breakfast with Santa

Saturday, December 3rd 

10:30am until approx. 12:30pm

The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department has teamed up with Butler Township to bring you a special surprise. We have managed to talk Santa into joining us for what is sure to be a fun-filled breakfast with crafts, goodies, and of course Santa!

The Breakfast with Santa program is designed for children ages toddler thru 10. The cost is $7.00 per child (under 1 are free, but must be registered) through Wednesday, November 23rd. Late registration will be $9.00 per child after November 23. Register early and save!

Breakfast takes place at the Butler Township Park Building, 468 South Duffy Road, from 10:30 a.m. until approx. 12:30pm. Pre-Registration is required.
