FREE FAMILY SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

The Butler County Park and Recreation Department invites you to our FREE Family Summer Concert Series at Alameda Park.  Our concerts will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will take place in the Carousel Shelter.  Please refer below for entertainer details.

Greater Cranberry Barbershop Chorus ________________Tuesday, June 29

Come join us for a great evening of vocal harmony. The Greater Cranberry Barbershop Chorus featuring the Sharp Edge quartet will be here to perform the smooth sounds of Barbershop singing.  Come enjoy the all male harmonic sound of this a cappella group.

Divine Ridge            ___________________________         Tuesday, July 6

Back by popular demand!  Divine Ridge will once again bring high energy and a great sounding band to the stage at Alameda Park.  They will be performing contemporary Christian Music.  Come join us for a great time.  You will be very glad you did.  Carousel Shelter, 6:30 p.m.

 

 

Mass Trasit                                                                                  Tuesday, July 13

Mass Transit is a 4 member group of young , multi-talented muscians and vocalists.  They'll perform Sinatra, Oldies and Rock and Roll.  They are a high energy group with a little something for everyone's listening pleasure.  Come listen to the talented blend of instruments, rhythm and style as we welcome them to the Alameda stage for the first time.

Waldo Young-The One-Man Band                                                Tuesday, July 20

If you like Acoustic Guitar, Harmonica and some Snappy Tunes from the 60's to the present, plus some original songs, Waldo Young from Wexford, PA fits the bill.  Come join us for a great time!  It will be music to your ears.

 Good Vibes w/Washboard Tony                                                 Tuesday, July 27

Come and listen to a great three-piece band that plays a variety of music including rock and roll, blues, dance, and high energy music!  This band consists entirely of Butler natives, so come on out and enjoy as this will definitely be a performance you won't want to miss!

 

 Muddy Creek           _________________                            Tuesday, August 3

Next up on the Concert Series is "Muddy Creek" a  4-piece acoustic band that takes you from the 70's on up to today.  Sloq and bluesy one minute, folk and bluegrass the next, with a sprinkling of Rock n'Roll for good measure.  Guaranteed to be a great time!

FREE OUTDOOR DISCOVERY

 

The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department would like to invite you to our FREE Thursday night programs at Alameda Park.  The majority of our programs will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will take place in the Carousel Shelter.  Please refer below for details, exact times and locations.

 

 Bluebirds of PA              ________________________                        Thursday, June 17

Kick off the summer with The Pennsylvania Game Commission for an interactive program that talks and educates us about Bluebirds in Pennsylvania.  Discover why these birds live where they do, how they have adapted to survive, what they eat, and when to put out Bluebird Boxes.  The game Commission will be bringing material to make Bluebird boxes, so bring a hammer and take home a Bluebird Box!

 

Turtle Talk   _____________________________                                          Thursday, June 24

Next up in our Outdoor Discovery is a returning favorite, Turtle Talk.  Turtle expert, Greg Levish, will be telling us about turtles in PA and what turtles'role in Native American culture was and is.  He will also be bringing some very delicious Turtle Soup, so bring a few extra dollars and take home some turtle soup for yourself.

Let There Be Slime__________________________                Thursday, July 1

An evening with some slimy herptiles is what is in store for you at Alameda Park.  The sights and sounds of summer come alive in this interactive program celebrating the wonders of amphibians and reptiles in our local ecosystem.  Join Naturalist April Claus as she unlocks the mysteries of frogs, toads, salamanders, turtles and snakes.  We will identify frogs by their call and learn more about the "Hellbender", PA's target salamander.

Birds of Prey          _______________________________                        Thursday, July 8

Earl Shriver, Master Falconer from Baden, PA will conduct an hour-long presentation on birds of prey.  This natural history program will focus on the many interesting and often misunderstood facts about these magnificent creatures.  Earl will use live birds throughout his presentation including a hawk, an eagle, and a falcon.  Carousel Shelter, 7:00 p.m.

 

That Guy with the Birds                                                         Thursday, July 15

Come and have some fun with John Lege and his parrots! This is a variety type program featuring music-magic, educational facts, audience participation, and trained parrots!  With music, magic, and hands-on interaction,come and be a part of this educationl experience and up close adventure with these awesomely intelligent and beautiful creatures.  See the website at www.budwings.com
 
The Magic of Kevin Cramer                                                         Thursday, July 22
Do you believe in magic?  You will after this performance!  Join magician Kevin Cramer as he dazzles and amazes us this evening with his bag of tricks and illusions.  If you did not believe in magic before tonight, you will after this show.   Carousel Shelter, 7:00 p.m.
 
Playthings Etc.                                                                         Thursday, July  29

ATA Martial Arts         ________________________               Thursday, August 5

Barn Owls Program                                                             Thursday ,August 12

The Moraine Perservation Fund, a  volunteer organization is coming to Alameda Park.  They will host a presentation of their Barn Owl Reintroduction Program.  Get updated on the status of the Barn Owls, and what you can do to help.  The Moraine Preservationists will show us how beneficial these owls are to our environment, how to tell if they are around, what they eat, how they live, and why the reindtroduction program is important.  They may even bring a Barn Owl along!
