Introduction

The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department operates year-round, bringing the residents of Butler County quality, affordable recreational opportunities. The Parks and Recreation Department regularly submits press releases to all of the local media. Our programs are advertised on the radio and in the print medias. Many of the programs that are offered by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department have minimum and maximum participant requirements, and registration deadlines. If you are interested in attending a program or class, be sure to register early. The Butler County

 

Parks and Recreation Department has a no-refund policy for all programs and rentals. This also applies to Alameda Pool admissions and aquatic programs.


The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department may be offering additional programs that were not available at the time of printing. Please call the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department for programs that have been added after this website was updated.

By registering or participating in any Butler County Parks and Recreation Department activities you agree to allow publication of any photo or video taken at any program, event or facility. The County of Butler, without obligation to provide compensation to those photographed, may use such photographs. Photos and video taken at activities may be used for publication as the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department and its sponsors deem necessary. If you have an idea for a program, would like us to expand on our current programs, or have any questions or comments, please let us know. Butler County Parks and Recreation Policies:
  1. Alameda Pool and The Kid's Zone Playground areas are tobacco-free areas. No tobacco products may be used within 20 feet of entrances.
  2. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department has a no-refund policy in effect for all programs and for Alameda Pool.
  3. Most Classes are limited in size. Registration will be on a first come-first serve basis.
  4. Payment is expected at the time of registration. Cash, money orders, or personal checks. Please make checks payable to "County of Butler".
  5. Please check the programs for which you are registered. No confirmation notices will be sent.
  6. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of handicap status in the provision of programs.
  7. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel programs due to insufficient registration. Unless notified, classes will begin as scheduled.
  8. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department welcomes people of all abilities. Please note that a 48-hour notice is requested for any person with a disability who needs special accommodations to participate in a program.
  9. Alameda Pool may be closed for reasons of poor weather or attendance, safety factors, or special events. Please see our pool rules and regulations for a complete listing of policies and guidelines.

The mission of the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department is to provide safe, clean, and beautiful facilities, parks and open spaces, along with professionally managed leisure activities for all people. Services shall be provided to enrich the quality of life for local citizens and to provide economic value through facilities which create tourism and encourage long-term community stability and growth.

Note: A new ordinance of the County of Butler repealing ordinances No. 20 and 20-A and providing for rules and regulations governing the use of the Butler County Park System can be viewed here.

 SHELTER RESERVATIONS 2014
Shelter Reservations for any of the 14 shelters in Alameda Park will begin on Friday, February 28, 2014, starting by 8:30 AM in the Public Meeting Room of the County Government Center.  Reservations will be taken until 11:00 AM in the County Government Center then starting at the Alameda Park Office at 1:00 PM that same day and any day thereafter (Monday-Friday, non-Holiday).

NOTE:  The Masonic Shelter will not be available on the following days:  Saturday, May 17th;  and Saturday, July 19th.

The Odd Fellows Circle which includes the Odd Fellow Gazebo and Shelters 1-4 will not be available on the following days: Friday & Saturday, May 16th & 17th; Saturday, August 23rd; and Friday & Saturday, September 26th & 27th. 

NOTE:  All security deposits should be made payable to "County of Butler" on a separate check.  All security deposits will be returned at the end of the rental season.

SPRING GARDEN AND HOME SHOW 2014
The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department and the Penn State Master Gardeners of Butler County are partnering to offer the Annual Spring Garden Market and Home Show on Saturday, May 17, 2014.  If you are interested in being a vendor or if you need additional information, please contact the Alameda Park Office.

AMERICAN RED CROSS BABYSITTING CLASSES
American Red Cross Babysitting Classes will be offered at the following locations:
Adams Township Municipal Building Sat., May 3
Butler Township Park Building, Sat April 12
Slippery Rock Area Parks and Recreation Bldg., Sat., April 26
All classes are from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

FLASHLIGHT EASTER EGG HUNT
The Annual Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt is back.  Friday, April 11, 2014.  Cost is $5.00 per child if registered by April 4th and $7. thereafter.

RABIES CLINIC
Join the Butler County Humane Society and the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department for a Rabies Clinic on March 22nd at Alameda Park Office from 2-4PM.  The cost is $10 per shot with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Butler County Humane Society.  For more information, please call the Butler County Humane Society at 724-789-1150.
