Sporting Licenses

  • Butler County 2014 Dog Licenses are now available!
  • We are pleased to announce that dog licenses are now available ONLINE at the web-site link below:
  • See a list of Dog License Agents here.
  • Required for all dogs 3 months of age and older.
  • Dog must be licensed by January 1.
  • Maximum fine for an unlicensed dog is $300.
  • A dog license for a non-senior citizen is $6.45 for a spayed or neutered dog; $8.45 for a female or male dog.
  • A dog license for a senior citizen is $4.45 for spayed or neutered dog; $6.45 for a female or male dog.  The State of Pennsylvania recognizes anyone 65 years or older at the time of application as a senior citizen.
  • Please keep the license receipt for your records.
  • Duplicate licenses are available at the Butler County Treasurer's Office.
  • Pennsylvania's Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement is responsible for law enforcement in regards to dog licenses and other Pennsylvania state laws regarding dogs.
  • If you have had your pet microchipped and wish to purchase a lifetime dog license, you may download and print a Lifetime Dog License Application here. Note: Permanent Identification Verification Forms are also required. PIV forms are available at most veterinary practices, or available for download here. Please be aware that lifetime dog licenses are only available at the Butler County Treasurer's Office.

  • Download and print a Dog License Application here (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader). Complete the application and send it, along with payment to:

“The county dog warden canvasses the county at various times each year, looking for unlicensed dogs and citing their owners. Failure to license a dog is a summary offense punishable by a maximum fine of $300 for each unlicensed dog. The minimum fine is $50 plus court costs. All dogs must be under control and are not permitted to run at-large. Complaints may be reported to Kenneth Rudisill, state dog warden, at 724-898-9704.”

 
 
 
Hunting License
 
  • 2013-2014 Hunting Licenses are now available!
  • Pennsylvania Hunting Licenses for 2013-2014 season will be available for sale by July 1, 2013.
  • You may access the PA Game Commission's web site at www.pgc.state.pa.us for more information.
 


Fishing License
  • 2014 Fishing Licenses are now available!
  • To apply for a Senior Lifetime fishing license, the applicant must be at least 65 years of age sometime within the fishing year. The fishing year runs with the calendar year.
  • Cost is $51.70 for a lifetime license.
  • Trout stamp cost $9.70
  • Regular fishing license required for anyone 16 years of age and older.
  • Regular fishing license cost is $22.70 Trout stamp cost $9.70
  • Lake Erie Permit Cost is $9.70 Lake Erie/Trout Salmon Combo Stamp Cost $15.70

Sportman's Pistol Permit
  • Applicant must appear in person and present a valid hunting, fishing, furtaking license, or permit relating to hunting dogs.
  • Present another valid form or identification, preferably a valid PA driver's license.
  • Valid only in conjunction with going to or from the place where you hunt, fish, trap, or train dogs. Not valid for any other reason.
  • Valid for five years from date of issue.
  • Fee: $6.00
