The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department operates year-round, bringing the residents of Butler County quality, affordable recreational opportunities. The Parks and Recreation Department regularly submits press releases to all of the local media. Our programs are advertised on the radio and in the print medias. Many of the programs that are offered by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department have minimum and maximum participant requirements, and registration deadlines. If you are interested in attending a program or class, be sure to register early.


The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department has a no-refund policy for all programs and rentals. This also applies to Alameda Waterpark admissions and aquatic programs. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department may be offering additional programs that were not available at the time of printing. Please call the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department for programs that have been added after this website was updated.


By registering or participating in any Butler County Parks and Recreation Department activities you agree to allow publication of any photo or video taken at any program, event or facility. The County of Butler, without obligation to provide compensation to those photographed, may use such photographs. Photos and video taken at activities may be used for publication as the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department and its sponsors deem necessary. If you have an idea for a program, would like us to expand on our current programs, or have any questions or comments, please let us know.

Butler County Parks and Recreation Policies

  1. Alameda Pool and The Kid's Zone Playground areas are tobacco-free areas. No tobacco products may be used within 20 feet of entrances. This also includes the use of E-cigarettes. 

  2. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department has a no-refund policy in effect for all programs and for Alameda Pool.

  3. Most Classes are limited in size. Registration will be on a first come-first serve basis.

  4. Payment is expected at the time of registration. Cash, money orders, or personal checks. Please make checks payable to "County of Butler".

  5. Please check the programs for which you are registered. No confirmation notices will be sent.

  6. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of handicap status in the provision of programs.

  7. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel programs due to insufficient registration. Unless notified, classes will begin as scheduled.

  8. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department welcomes people of all abilities. Please note that a 48-hour notice is requested for any person with a disability who needs special accommodations to participate in a program.

  9. Alameda Pool may be closed for reasons of poor weather or attendance, safety factors, or special events. Please see our pool rules and regulations for a complete listing of policies and guidelines.

Free Fishing Rod Loaner Program       

All Year Long

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department are offering free loans of fishing rods and reels. The borrower will be responsible for cost of the rod and other equipment should they not be returned or taken care of properly. In addition, those borrowing the equipment must agree to safe, ethical conduct while fishing, as well as obeying PA Fish Commission laws and regulations.









Camp Alameda 2018

Dear Parents or Guardian,

Welcome to Camp Alameda.  As part of the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, Camp Alameda offers a summer program for children who are potty trained and at least 5 years of age.

Camp Alameda is filled with games, activities, arts and crafts, swimming every day and lots more each week with activities geared around a weekly theme.

Please read your Parent Handbook carefully.  If at any time you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please let us know by calling

Safe Sitter Babysitting Courses for 2018

Interested in Babysitting but need to learn more about safety and emergencies? This class is designed for ages 11-16. The class emphasis is on five main areas: prevention, safety, responsibility, leadership, and professionalism.
Class locations are in Adams Township, Butler Township, Karns City Borough, and Slippery Rock Park Borough.
Pre-registration is required due to class size limits.

The cost is $49.00 per participant and includes book, safe sitter back pack, band aid holder, notepad and flashlight! Class size is limited so please register early.

Earth Volunteer Day! 

Saturday April 21st 

Join us at Alameda Park in a celebration for Earth Day! We will getting our hands dirty with planting new flowers and plants around our most famous shelter, the Carousel Shelter. Call us to help us out in making Alameda Park continuing to look great and what better way to honor our earth! Must register with the Park Department for volunteer times. Ask for the Aquatic/Program Manager.

Special Population and Children under 12 Fishing Area 

 Tuesday April 24th through Saturday May 5th

Chicora Borough Park

The area of Buffalo Creek that runs through the Chicora Borough Park will be designated for use by Special Populations and children age 12 and under for a period of two weeks. The dates are from Tuesday April 24th through Saturday May 5th.

This “Children under 12 and Special Population only area” is designed to promote fishing for youth and disabled populations. This area is specifically restricted to those children age 12 and under, and for special needs populations. No other fishing will be permitted. The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department will restock the creek with trout before the beginning of the Youth and Special Population dates take effect. The effort to provide this designated fishing area is a joint effort by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, Chicora Borough Council, and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. Community Trunk Sale

Would you like to have a garage sale, but just don’t have the time or energy? Sell your treasures at Alameda Park out of the trunk of your car!

The fee is only $5.00 per space, or $8.00 for two spaces.

Admission for shoppers is FREE!

After the Register early date, up to the date of the event. The price per space will be $7.00 for one space or $10.00 for two. 

 The Trunk Sale will go on…Rain/Shine/Snow/Cold!




Night Disc Golf 

Friday April 20th at 9:30pm

Friday May 25th at 9:30pm

Join us in the park after hours for a disc golf competition. Registration will be at 9:00pm and the event will start at 9:30pm. Chris Lachendro from the the Professional Disc Golf Association will be helping to run these events at Alameda Park and we are so pleased to have him. This will be a Night Round on a temp course. The temp course will be setup next to the Purple park. Check-in from 8:45pm-9:15pm,we will have a short players meeting and then tee off at 9:30pm. This event is open to all skill levels and all money will be collected at the event.
There are two options to pay for: 
25$ 2x Niteize night disc golf discs (1 putter and 1 driver)
10$ Bring your own discs. (This is a night round make sure they light up or glow)

There will be a few divisions. With Prizes for top finishers.
